Hi all! umm, so today there's a slight change in my writing style. As you might have noticed from the very first word that this context is written in a very personal manner as I used "I" for the first time in any of the blogs I've written. Funny! isn't it?.......no? Ah, OK, forgive me, its my first time. the idea that i am going to share today is about freedom. Ah, yes i know its a controversial topic with an ocean of different views but the question i am posing is not about the pros and cons of freedom, in fact, its about the definition of freedom! What is freedom? The first thing or one of the first things or maybe one of the top 100 things in your priority list would definitely be freedom to live your life as you wish. Hmm, impressive! As today's "modernised and civilised" youngsters say, freedom to wear whatever we want. That completely okey. you should wear whatever you want. But clothes nowadays are a symbol of style, status and coolness rather than need and comfort. They (the "modernised and civilised" teenagers) would now say that we are logical people, over 18, adult and mature enough to decide our own modesty and dressing sense. Somebody please tell me how on earth wearing a t shirt and capri during winters is logical! Oh did I forget to mention? oh, anyways, here in this context i would like to discuss only about boys! So, moving on, a few days back, there was a boom on the name of an event called "kiss of love" where hundreds or probably a couple of thousands of youngsters kissed publicaly showing their anger (or whatever they may name it) against the police who used to beat couples in parks or places they know where. So my question to you is, is this "logical"? I am not saying who is right or who is wrong (of course, nobody is wrong). The thing is, why did the police decide to take such an action? you want to know? Because of the "modernised and civilised" logical youth. Again, its not valid for all the youngsters, but majority of them are such. So, the reason! You might have visited so many parks across your city. What do you see? Greenery? Nature? Beautiful sounds of the birds chirping? The flowers? The grass covered with dew drops? NO!!!!!!! All you get to see is couples romancing and making love in the silent isolated places of the park! now, now, again these "modernised and civilised" youngsters would say that its their choice, their freedom to do whatever they like. After all, its a public property and everybody has equal rights over it. Sir, Madam, just think "logically". This is a park! not a honeymoon resort! Families come here, old people come here, children come here! And you! smooching as if there's no tomorrow. And if a bunch of desperate people record you while having your "love" then you will be the ones who will suffer. And after that, we all know! PROTESTS! oh! let me edit! protests by "modernised and civilised" youngsters. Now, again, i am not saying that the people who recorded the MMS video did no wrong! no! Instead i am saying that it is not only those bunch of people who are faulty! You are also on the same level of wrongdoing as them. No matter how much you protest, how much you pressurise, discuss, but the truth is that modesty lies in your own hands! You wanted freedom, you got freedom, and this is how you utilise freedom. Central park (Connaught place), Lodhi garden, Buddha garden, everywhere! Its all smooches and "love". And then you say we don't like India. How the hell would you like India when you yourself are not protective of your identity, your culture, your modesty? The only mantra you follow is, "I don't know about the rest, but west is the best". Just following the west and becoming their copies and degrading your own identity. This is what freedom does with you. Oh sorry! This is what you do when you are given freedom. No No No, don't think any further, i have the answer! Actually, this is not freedom! You want to know what freedom is? Freedom is to let do what is required, not what we want. To quote a friend of mine, "Freedom ke naam par har koi galat kaam hi karta hai!". So next time you talk about freedom, Ma'am, Sir, please do some introspection.
Thank you for reading.
